Travis Kelce's TV kickoff is anything but grotesque.
New on-set photos of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, who's taking on his first major acting role in Ryan Murphy's horror drama "Grotesquerie," have been released.
Kelce's role has been kept mysterious in marketing materials. But it's a major step into Hollywood for the NFL star, whose only prior acting credits were as "Saturday Night Live" host and a short appearance as himself in the Showtime comedy "Moonbase 8" (he was killed off 12 minutes into the first episode).
One image shows Kelce, wearing a short-sleeved white shirt and matching pants, walking toward his co-star Niecy Nash during a scene.
Another photo offers a close-up of Kelce's character chatting with Nash while sitting on a bench. The football player smiles sweetly during the exchange as a gold ring softly glints on his hand.

Kelce's first appearance on "Grotesquerie" is set to air Wednesday night on FX (10 EDT/PDT).
The 10-episode limited series centers on Detective Lois Tryon (Nash) who tries to decipher who's behind a series of crimes and torments her with their wrongdoings. At a loss for leads, she partners with Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun and reporter, to find the culprit.

Travis Kelce's mother and Niecy Nash on NFL star's acting chops
Donna Kelce, who walked the red carpet at the "Grotesquerie" premiere last week, told USA TODAY why her son is well-suited for a transition into acting.
"He's one of those types of individuals who's kind of like a chameleon," she said. "He can be with people of varying different walks of life and fit in. He's always been able to do that, and I think he has a lot to draw from with all of the individuals that he's been around."
Nash, who was also in attendance, recalled the reaction when the "amazing" Kelce walked on set.
"All the guys were fangirling. The girls were like, 'What's going on?'" Nash said, noting that for the guys, "it was a bromance as soon as he walked on set."

"But he's a really great guy, and I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by him in this," she added.
